Maxiboard

Maxiboard is an extremely high-performance and versatile acoustic building board.  Maxiboard is suitable for use on walls and ceilings and can be used to meet the sound insulation performance requirements of Part E of the Building Regulations for separating structures.

Maxiboard can be used as an alternative to plasterboard to dramatically increase the acoustic performance of both existing and newly constructed walls and ceilings.

Unlike conventional wall soundproofing materials, Maxiboard is a patented composite board manufactured from cement and gypsum with a polymeric core.  The composite building board produced offers excellent sound insulation performance and is a very strong, high impact resistant board, suitable for taking screws and fixings directly.

The team at SIS say:  Maxiboard is a great, high mass board.  It is the homeowner's go-to product to resolve noisy neighbour situations.  We recommend installing Maxiboard on a 50mm independent lining, leaving a 25mm air.  The stud should be filled with dB Slab 50.  

Suppose your wall/ceiling is 4m x 3m = 12m2 / 0.72 = 16.6, so rounded up = 17 Sheets required.  For every 4no. boards you will need 1no. SRS Gripfix for the lapped joint.
